Well, a year ago today, we were flying to Beijing. . . a long 13 hour flight. That flight seemed easy compared to the one on the way back!
Paying homage to Sadie's rock star hair, here's a video of her rocking!
Enjoy!

School and Walking
School and Walking
Well, it’s official. Sadie Wen is walking!!!! We have enjoyed watching her progress over the past few weeks as she learns to get her balance. We are absolutely amazed at her progress. Every time she learns something new we always say,” That’s the cutest thing ever!” Well, this walking thing is the cutest thing ever, to date.
Sadie Wen has been in school for two weeks now. We are happy to say that she has adjusted very well. Her teachers are awesome. I believe they are the reason why she has done so well. Sadie Wen has learned several signs in class and has done many art and music activities. Sadie does not like it when I leave her, but each day the crying for me gets shorter and shorter. Her teachers are amazed at how long she can sit at the table and eat her lunch. She takes after her Momma. It is so cute to see her sitting in a chair at the little tables.
I started back to work officially on Aug.6th. The students started school on Aug.11th. I survived my first week of school, and it was GREAT! I have 20 fourth graders. Three of those students are adopted, one from China. I realized how much I missed it and the people I work with. I am so fortunate to be at my school!

A Long Summer Update
Well, the summer is flying by and Sadie is growing and changing everyday. Sadie has had a lot of firsts this summer. She starting crawling at the beginning of summer and is now starting to walk! She had her 15-month appointment a couple of weeks ago. Thankfully she only has one more shot to go and she will be finished with vaccinations. She will not get anymore until she is 5. She now weighs 20 pounds and is 31 inches tall. She is getting taller and slender. Her height really shot up from her 12-month appointment to her 15-month appointment. She grew about 4 inches! Her hair has also changed. It is now lying down. I know that will upset some of those who loved her “wild” hair. Sadie is completely off the baby bottles now. She loves her “nubby” sippy cup. She is still sleeping well at night. Now we are struggling with afternoon naps. She wants her Momma and lets me know she is not happy with me for the first hour of naptime. I figure it is just a phase. Who knows? That is what I am learning. There are sometimes just things that have no explanations. One minute she’s fine, the next minute she’s not! By the way, she has VERY healthy lungs. The girl can scream. Keith and I now refer to her unhappy moments before naps (or occasionally at bedtime) as a “Scream fest”. Otherwise she is a funny girl with a lot of personality. I think she knows now that she is really cute because of all the attention she gets.
Sadie has experienced the beach and pool some this summer. We went with Keith’s family to Destin and had a great time with family. We also visited with some of our China travel families in Atlanta. That was awesome! It was so much fun watching Sadie with the other girls.
The biggest adjustment is coming up. Sadie starts school Monday. I think she will have a blast. It will probably be hardest on me since it has been her and me 24/7 for the past 5 ½ months. I’m excited to go back to the classroom. This will be good for Sadie and me.
Enjoy the pictures! It will be awhile before we update again. We will try to update once a month. This blog will also become a private blog. It will be for our family, friends, and travel buddies from China. If we don’t know you personally, we’re sorry, but there are some weird people out there, and we want to protect our family’s privacy.
